Deadly Manipulation: Who can you trust?
Last week Air Force Voices wrote about how public opinion was manipulated by the MSM/DNC. The post referred to a new Zogby poll featuring "fairer" questions that showed the nation was clearly supporting Terri Schiavo and her parents.
While Air Force Voices still believes this story was manipulated for partisan gain (on both sides)...it appears the LifeNews Story/Christian Defense Coalition may have spun results the wrong way.
Michelle Malkin has a disturbing post which links to a conservative blog Civil Commotion with further details. Here is an excerpt:
A Zogby spokesperson described the poll to me as a joint-effort between themselves and the Christian Defense Coalition, and explicitly refused to vouch for the questions and responses reported by LifeNews. I’d have to talk to the Christian Defense Coalition about that, I was told. (So far as I understand the relationship, by the way, Zogby is acting properly. The work done by a consultant for a client is the property of the client; the information isn’t Zogby's to give away.)
The LifeNews story did not disclose the Christian Defense Coalition as the source, intimating that Zogby was.
This is outrageous. This is "Deadly Manipulation" we are talking about folks. It aint no game show! A person's life isn't something to be manipulated with falsehoods and propaganda.
We already had a bombshell with a "fake memo" written by a former staffer in Senator Martinez' office. Now this.
This is nothing new. I know it happens all the time. However, folks on the right side of the aisle will continue to lose credibility (and an audience) when they resort to dubious tactics in order to win an argument (i.e, play the political game).
Conservatives already have the facts and the mood of the public on their side. Why stoop to tactics employed by the MSM/DNC? Let them play their games. Rise above it people...sheesh!
Michelle Malkin is investigating this story further.
I agree with these conservative bloggers...if this latest bombshell turns out to be true, we should expose these lies as they do more damage to sensitive public opinion. I fully appreciate the way "they calmly and methodically shed light on these irregularities."
Exposing propaganda is the whole reason I looked at blogging as a research project and started blogging myself.
UPDATE: The Cassandra Page reminds us why we should never rely on polls to prove or disprove various points of view.
Personally I've never liked Zogby polls and have questioned the methology (the question asked) in arriving at conclusions. This won't help his credibility at all.
In something completely unrelated, I was recently wondering about the F-22 Raptor vs. F-35 Joint Strike Fighter in terms of cost, capabilities, performance and role and whether you had an opinion on the direction that we should be going here. Maybe you've hit on this topic in the past? If not and you're interested, I can email you a few questions (interview format) for your views and turn it into a blog entry. Let me know.
Good coverage, keep up the good work.
