Public opinion in the Terri Schiavo case was manipulated by the MSM/dnc MSM/DNC.
David Limbaugh links to a story by Life News Editor Steven Ertelt regarding a new Zogby poll in the Terri Schiavo case (HT: Michelle Malkin). Here is an excerpt (emphasis added):
"Polls leading up to the death of Terri Schiavo made it appear Americans had formed a consensus in favor of ending her life. However, a new Zogby poll with fairer questions shows the nation clearly supporting Terri and her parents and wanting to protect the lives of other disabled patients.
The Zogby poll found that, if a person becomes incapacitated and has not expressed their preference for medical treatment, as in Terri's case, 43 percent say "the law presume that the person wants to live, even if the person is receiving food and water through a tube" while just 30 percent disagree.
Another Zogby question his directly on Terri's circumstances.
"If a disabled person is not terminally ill, not in a coma, and not being kept alive on life support, and they have no written directive, should or should they not be denied food and water," the poll asked.
A whopping 79 percent said the patient should not have food and water taken away while just 9 percent said yes."
My faith in the American people is still intact...despite the manipulation and distortions in the press.
I would be curious to know if subsequent polls from other polling firms reveal the same results. Not that it would change my mind...only futher prove the point.
Blogger Will Franklin has more to say (again HT: Michelle Malkin). Here is an excerpt (emphasis added):
"However, most people, if they follow the news at all, are headline readers. Polling on detailed and complex issues requires more sophisticated surveys.
With regard to Terri Schiavo, not only were the headlines flawed, the media coverage itself was thoroughly harmful to public opinion, with the fake "GOP strategy memo" and the misreporting of the basic facts of the situation. When people learn the actual facts of the case, the consensus for death turns on its head."
I am sure this deadly manipulation will not be immediately reported in the MSM/dnc MSM/DNC. There is too much world news going on with the death of the Pope John Paul II.
However, I am sure the blogosphere will keep this story alive and hold people accountable.
[Note: I originally used small-letters for the DNC portion of "MSM/DNC" to reflect there is no evidence of DNC coordination with this distortion (to date). This undermines the true meaning of the term so I changed back to all caps. See previous post on MSM/DNC and comments below.]
JUDGE GREER IS IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS!... WE WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH IGNORING CONGRESS! WHY SHOULD HE? WRITE EVERY CONGRESS PERSON YOU CAN. LET THEM KNOW IT MUST BE REVIEWED AND THIS JUDGE NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIS ACTIONS!

The mainstream media continues to endulge in manipulating behavior. They've already attempted to torpedo the re-election of GWB and attempted to torpedo the war effort in Iraq.
The fact that Terri Shiavo's situation became the latest target of opportunity isn't surprising when you consider the open hostility much of the mainstream media harbors towards religion.
Thankfully more Americans are waking up. Unfortunately many are still oblivious and asleep at the wheel.

"I used small-letters for the DNC portion of "MSM/DNC" to reflect there is no evidence of DNC coordination with this distortion "
First of all, great blog and keep up the good work!
Second, your thinking is still a little pre-"new media". You still think of the "MSM" and "DNC" as separate. Whether or not the actual "DNC"
had a hand in any particular story doesn't matter. Both the Democrats and the editors at NYT act for the same purpose generally. The MSM acts politically and for political purposes. MSM is about power - not journalism. That is the real meaning of the MSM/DNC acronym. Like I said, keep up the good work. I will add you to my blogroll shortly.

Thanks Salt1907...your point is well taken! I'll have to fix the original post.
I appreciate your kind words and am honored you would consider me for your blogroll.

DemocRats wanted Terri dead. They thought the public opinion, as per the infamous ABC poll, disseminated by "MSM journalists", was with them. “Die Terri, Die!” was the DemocRat battle cry.
Now we know the truth from the new Zogby poll. Overwhelming majority of Americans would have wanted Terri to live. Unfortunaly, Terri is dead. So, what do Democrats do now?
They want to MOVE ON! Forget all about it. She is dead anyhow, so what’s the point writing about her? DemocRats are now trying all kind of arguments to justify their approval of judicial homicide.
As to the expertise and judgment of Judge Greer. Here is and excerpt from his ruling of March 26, where he evaluates Terri’s ability to express her wish, to communicate with others:
>>> “However, all of the credible medical evidence this Court has received over the last five years is that this is not a cognitive response but rather something akin to a person jerking his/her hand off a hot stove long before he/she has thought about it.” <<<
Based on the above conclusion, Greer finally condemned Terri to death. Isn’t this a stupid reasoning? Is this judge normal? I think he is a nut. I say remove this idiot from bench and move him to retirement in the Woodside Hospice.

Here is the transcript of Father Pavone's appearance on Bill O'Rilley's Factor, April 6:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,152738,00.html
An excerpt:
"I was with Terri for three or four hours before she died, right up to about 10 minutes before her death. Now George Felos and Michael Schiavo, they want to say this was a peaceful, gentle, merciful death. Bill, in all my years as priest I have never seen anything so horrifying or agonizing as the way she died."

We need to remove Florida Senator James E. "Jim" King From Office. He had a part in Terri's killing. The petition is open to all concerned citizens, not only FL residents:

But, most important, we need to impeach Judge George Greer, here is the petition:
